Hi, I am new to millinery and was wondering what the best block to start off with would be. I want to block headpieces. Are there different size blocks for this or a standard size?

Hi Lesley

Best blocks to start with really depends on what you want to make... A full dome is the number one basic block for making a range of hats and head fitting items. These blocks come in any size you want but the most common is 57cm (22.5")

For fascinators the best starting point are round button shapes and other simple shapes to get the basic skills of blocking under your belt.

Elaine will be a great guide for you, and i have a large number of blocks you can choose from if you wish.

Hope this helps you!
