Hi, I have taken the felt hat course and have recieved my first commission for a felt cloche! I am very excited but I'm not sure how to handle specific client measurements. I only have one cloche hat block and it is sized slightly smaller than my clients head measurements. How can I adjust the sizing of the hat without buying a larger block size?

hi there, I'm about to take this course myself -which hat blocks did you purchase for the lessons?

Hi Tasha,

To start off the first hats you learn in Beginners Course are basic hats with wide or narrow brims to your choice. The crown can be a round dome crown or flat tip crown -turn upside down . The 2 blocks you need are these the full dome crown and cartwheel 18inch with  collar They have a discounted bundle for Hat academy students

Contact info available on the block site. Measure your head over the brow and largest bump at back of head for head size (Av size is 57cm)

Take a cheaper felt and block it over your block.  When dry leave it there, cover with either your foil or cling wrap and then block the cloche felt.  The extra layer of felt will have increased your block's overall size.  If one is not enough then you might want to use 2.  It will depend on the thickness of the felt you use as to how much larger the size will be.

Good Luck and congratulations.
