I am a retired prison officer and I'd never considered making hats before, so just stumbled into it when I was recovering from an operation, and wondering what to do when I retired. I would like to set up my own business eventually, working from home. I'm currently in training all this year and learning with Rose Cory, the late Queen Mother's hatmaker in London, and with another top milliner Janie Lashford in the Cotswolds. Having a wonderful time so far and learning such a lot. I'm aiming to make hats (and a few fascinators) that are simple, elegant and classy for any occasion.
