In millinery, details matter and for milliner Paige Wallis, they are the defining features which set her pieces apart. Paige is also involved with fine arts, painting incredibly detailed works in vivid colours. Her keen eye has obviously been translated into her millinery designs too. As you can see in the feature image "Mabel", the piece is carefully designed using a mixture of textures and trimmings. From the vevelty brown top hat base and cream feathers to the peachy flowers tied all together with glimpses of bronze beading. We can appreciate the time and effort taken to produce this piece not only for the trimmings but also the level of consideration given to lining the hat.
Paige has chosen to photograph the piece from all angles giving us a rare glimpse at all aspects of her work. We are thrilled that she has decided to share this with us, as it is a very important part of what sets a milliners work apart and what makes the hat's wearer feel truly special. The reason people choose to have a piece created by a milliner is so that they have their own piece of bespoke artwork to wear and Paige's pieces certainly fit that description.
