Hat boxes!
Would anyone know where I can find a heavy cardboard/ paper mache hat box in Brisbane?

Unsure for heavy cardboard it self but I buy my hat boxes from CentaPak which you do need to put together, anyone else know anywhere else to buy heavy boxes?.

Check out this discussion Zita although suggestions are suppliers outside of Bris
Most of millinery suppliers have them also. For small pieces the discount stores have boxes suitable -just secure ribbon to base to tie in a bow over the top.
