About Me
Originally from Australia, Milliner Lina Stein has been based in Westport, Co. Mayo for many years.
For the past two decades she has been creating amazing hats and is recognized as a leading light in the world of Irish Millinery through her flamboyant and extravagant hats that signal her presence and individual creativity.
Her pieces are always a sensation at race meetings and special events both in Ireland and abroad, seducing the crowds with their exotic elegance, style and wit.
To diversify and expose herself to new experiences, she decided in 2007 that the time was right to open the door on the world of Hat making and share her knowledge about the traditional art of Millinery with “hat-interested” people from the world over.
Through the Millinery workshops that she holds in her “bijou” studio just outside Westport, she has inspired countless novice Milliners to take up the thimble, needle & thread and to try their hand at something new whilst enjoying every moment.
Her teaching techniques are proving to be rather successful, giving her students the confidence to set up small enterprises, participate in International Millinery Competitions or to simply strut their stuff at the races.
She has given master Classes in Germany, USA and Australia.
She was an International Guest Tutor at the 2012 INTERNATIONAL MILLINERY FORUM in Australia, and has been invited back to teach at the next 2014 INTERNATIONAL MILLINERY FORUM.
Lina's background in "Classic theatrical Millinery" has provided her with the unique expertise to unite traditional hat-making know-how with modern design, creating hats of great sophistication and clean lines.
Her Millinery education has brought Lina around the world from Sydney - Australia, where she spent 3 years training at TAFE to the pretty sea-side town of Westport, where she currently lives, teaches and works.
Lovely to have you join me in Hat Academy, Lina. Appreciate your work immensely and your commitment to teach others your skills.
