I love hats for many reasons; the most important for me is wearing and making them has allowed me to meet many unique people who also love hats. Hats are the one accessory in my opinion that often changes the wearer's mood, look, and makes them stand out in a crowd. They can be used for numerous other reasons including health and fashion.
About Me
My name is Kay, I have been in the Millinery business more than twenty years and I am a native Californian. I became interested in the Art of Millinery while watching the news events about Princess Diana who was a hat wearer.
Over the years I learned the art of millinery is one that constantly teaches its students, and I am thankful for having the opportunity to learn it. I consider hats wearable art because like artist creating paintings, they start with blank canvasses and no two are exactly alike.
The milliner’s canvass is the hat block which is used to shape hat bodies or fabric. These blocked hat shapes become unfinished hats until they are wired, finished and embellished making them wearable art pieces. My hope is this brief description gives insight about me and my art of millinery.
