- Award-winning milliner, Fiona Mangan is turning heads with her visually captivating headwear. Since setting up her Millinery label in Galway in 2011, she has been short-listed for numerous prestigious fashion awards. In 2012, she was awarded 'Irish Accessory Designer of the Year' at the Kerry Fashion Awards. She also won one of the internationally acclaimed Hatty Awards - an award given to only 25 designers in the world for their contribution to the hat industry.
In August 2013, the Royal, Zara Phillips was seen wearing a Fiona Mangan hat for her maiden maternity look at Glorious Goodwood.
Her hats have been worn by many Irish celebrities including songwriter Julie Feeney, RTE's Jennifer McGuire, stylist Marietta Doran and Xpose's Karen Koster.
Her hats have also been worn by the winning ladies of a number of best dressed lady competitions and one of her creations was chosen as the 'Best Fascinator' at the Breeders Cup in Los Angeles, USA in November 2012.
In July 2013, Fiona was invited to host a pop up shop in Brown Thomas, Galway in the 2 weeks leading up to the Galway Races.
The designer practised as an Architect for 10 years. With the downturn in the construction industry, she switched her design focus to her lifelong passion, Fashion. Pairing her raw talent with her background in Architecture, she creates headwear that is unequivocally unique and iconic.
Fiona's style is edgy with a distinctly fresh and contemporary quality. Unique textures and textiles are incorporated into Fiona's designs. Using traditional millinery techniques along with both traditional and unconventional materials she creates truly original and a one-off creations.
Fiona's headwear reflects the modern woman; the delicate, ethereal female, that is still edgy, strong and unyielding.

Wonderful you found our website Fiona. So pleased you have joined me in Hat Academy and hope you find it inspiring. I am committed to helping you add to your skills.
I set his up to help Beginners but hope you pick up extra tips (thermoplastics, leather flowers and silk abaca classes coming this year) -once you learn the basic techniques you will be surprised how creative you can be.
