MEET YOUR TUTOR
Amanda Macor specialises in creating bold line and design headpieces using Silk Abaca and swiss braid. Amanda’s hand dyed bountiful bows made their debut at Hatstravagance 2011 and introduced Silk Abaca to her millinery peers.
A Great Barrier Reef inspired silk abaca creation was a top 10 finalist at 2011 Myer Millinery Award at Melbourne Spring Carnival. In 2012 her stunning new technique of braiding silk abaca saw her win the Crown Oaks Ladies Day FOTF, Victorian Myer FOTF and then runner-up for Myer National FOTF finals. Although the absolute highlight of 2012 Melbourne Spring Carnival was talking silk abaca and hats with Master Milliner Philip Treacy. A swiss braid confection made top 10 at the 2013 Myer Millinery Award.
This popular and passionate educator introduced students to the wonder of Silk Abaca at the 2013 Hats Off to Brisbane convention where her classes were sold out.
Amanda is one of North Queensland’s leading milliners with thousand's of award winning headwear creations for clients and around 30 personal FOTF wins for herself. Some of her winning designs have been seen in the UK’s Hat Magazine.
