This is a reproduction of an original Victorian traveling hat. It was recreated as closely as possible with minor alterations.
The hat is an oval shape that sits forward on the head with a "V" front. I created the frame with buckram and covered it with velvet, satin, and taffeta.
The Taffeta black and red stripe covers the crown, the top and bottom of the brim is covered with a pleated red satin and the crown band and under brim are covered in black velvet. The addition of the velvet "flirtation" ribbons and a plethora of feathers add to its femininity.
Additional accents include lovely vintage velvet roses and vintage sequin trim around the brim edge.
There is an elastic band for holding the hat on the head and additional security from the comb at the front.
Fits most head sizes as it fits atop. The hat is lined.
This hat was all hand sewn and hand formed by me just like they used to do it.
This is the type of hat that was worn while traveling on a train or in a stagecoach.
This would be great for re-enactors, SASS members, or collectors of historic costumes. The main difference between this and the original is my lining and label.
