1940s-Style Red Felt Wide Brim with Two Faux Birds & Amazing Vintage Veiling

This spectacular hat was created using an authentic vintage hat block from the mid-1940s.

The hat is constructed out of a single piece of red wool felt. The edges of the brim are wired. The crown of the hat in encircled with black velvet ribbon, and two white faux birds swoop on either side. There is a black & white bow in the back of the hat (made using antique ribbon). Vintage veiling hangs down to chin level all the way around the hat.

The vintage 1940s fancy black veiling is the most amazing example of detail veiling I have ever seen! The workmanship is exquisite - in all of my years of collecting and creating hats, I have never before found anything even remotely similar. It is truly a rare and immensely valuable veil. The bottom of the veiling has an intricate pattern of roses(?) and leaves.
