.Hi Sharon, thank you. I have a lot of work yet to do I don't think like a lot of things you ever stop learning. I have got into millinery late in life I am 71 years old and have only been doing it for just over 2 years. I agree with you about hat designs being not suitable for most people and it can put ladies off hats. Some hats that I have seen maybe great for some people but Mrs everyday not really. They want a hat to compliment their outfits not to take it over..Also they want people to notice them but don't want to feel that people are pointing at them for the wrong reasons. It takes courage to wear some of the hats and I don't think most people have that unless there are a few people together wearing way out designs. Hope you can follow my jist? Shelagh

on your question about my top hat in turquoise:
hat made of wool felt capeline, wired brim covered with bias ribbon and petersham ribbon, feathers -"Lady Amherst Quill" and Marabou pom(all feathers available from Parkin fabrics(UK). Crown hat block from Guy Morse-Brown Hatblocks in UK, brim -vintage.

Hi Shelagh- I tuck the wire inside the sinamay in the crease (if that makes sense) and sew it in from the inside under the flap. The stitches are teeny and right on the rim. It's covered then from both sides. Then I fold the sinamay down neatly, and sew in the petersham band. I hope that makes some kind of sense. Easy to show, but hard to explain. Karen x
