Hello fellow Milliners!

I have been working with leather for a while, but now want to try out something different. I am making a hat out of leather but do not want to back it as it has been laser cut with a pattern, so there are small holes letting the light through.

Can anyone recommend a leather stiffener that I can use on the underside and will be strong enough to keep its shape when moulded. Otherwise any suggestions with something I could use to back it but still keep it's transparency?

Many thanks
Sam

Hi Sam

I recently did a leather workshop and we made a solution of pva glue and water and immersed the leather in it before moulding it, I'm not sure if this would work for you, and I'm sure a lot of other people of here have other ideas, but it definitely makes a very stiff leather once dry.

Thanks Melissa, I will experiment.
