Hi All-

I have been working on learning the art of making soft fabric hand sewn hats.  Specifically, velvet is my favorite, albeit perhaps the most challenging material, is one of my favorite fabrics.  So, I really want to master working with velvet.  Currently, I have been trying to achieve full body in a oversized beret style hat made of velvet.

I have added organza as an additional layer under my lining, next to the velvet.  While the organza gave the hat some body, it is not enough.  I thought of using a stiffer actual lining, such as taffeta, as opposed to the softer silky satin lining.  Or, perhaps I could try a stiffer interfacing attached to the lining???

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much.
