HOW TO ANCHOR A HEAVY HAT...?

I've made a large shell-shaped silk and sequin covered hat which I'm quite excited about, but it is too heavy to put on a metal hairband or elastic. I think I may need to make a stiff buckram half moon headband to affix the shell onto. Does anyone have any alternative suggestions?

@hatacademy wig clips. I sing and dance with a mic battery pack in hairpieces. Wig clips are the answer!
