Hints or tips for blocking curved sides?!

Hi everyone, I have a beautiful midi topper crown block that I am keen to have a go with. I love the shape, but I have never blocked anything with such curved sides. Does anyone have any hints or tips for this? I'm wanting to block with sinamay.

Many thanks in advance,

Rachel x

Hi Rachel, in millinery there always several ways of doing things, the way I would do it would be in two pieces of a tip and sideband cut on the cross, using French seams for neatness. After putting it on the block, steaming the sideband, hold the waist in place with a wide strip of mull till it is dry. When it is thoroughly dry, apply stiffener and again hold the sideband in place until it is dry. Hope this of use and Happy Hatting!

Kind Regards
Evelyne.

Hi Evelyne, thank you so much for taking the time to give your advice. I will let you know how I get on, thanks again!
