I've bought a lovely hat block but it's about 23" in size.

What's the best way to block a felt and ultimately fit a21.5" or 22" head?

I've read that you can fit the hat to the ribbon.
If I do this the felt will become mis-shapen and need to be reblocked, potentially losing the style of the crown.

In the felt hat video with Elaine Mergard the crown is wired and it's suggested to pull the wire to size?
I wasn't taught to wire the crown - I like the idea - but am concerned again that this will impact on the final shape.

I suppose I could use a cheap felt to try - any suggestions gratefully accepted.
