Should you use stiffener on a Panama Straw hat ?

Do any Milliners out there know if it is common practice to use stiffener on Panama Straw. I am making a 4" brim Fedora style. I am worried it will ruin/dry out the straw. On the other hand is steam…Continue

Use a good white PVA diluted as you would for stiffening flowers. This should be done before blocking and you need to make absolutely sure you do not get too much in one area…"
