This is a small group of Doll Hats I've created with Craft Felt.  I am going to make my own molds and am interested in felt I can mold for a smoother brim instead of the ruffled one I now use.  I have created my own molds from various crude items but I am going to make some hat molds from Vintage Styles, so having a felt I can mold using the same techniques used for ladies hats will enable me to expand on the number of different styles I can offer for the Doll Hats.

What tyoe of Felt would be best for my projects?

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Sincerely,

cindy of CMFancyHats

Use Wool felt bought by the metre from Millinery Supplier or Teddy Bear supplier. I taught Hats for Dolls and Bears in early  2000s & will set up online eventually. A few of Kits I have -can be worn by dolls or bears. They are constructed using same techniques as real hats but come with patterns in miniature

Elaine,

Thank you so much for your help.  These little hats are selling but like I said I want to broaden my horizons so to speak and offer all types of hats.  I am going to purchase the Beginner's Course soon.

Respectfully,

Cynthia

Hello Cynthia

lovely to see little hats being made! Did you know I have a small range of Doll hat blocks on my website? And...i can re create any full size blocks, vintage or modern in doll/ Bear size to request. Thought it might be good for you know if you need specific shapes that are hard to achieve from crude items as you put it.
