The first Fashions on the Field competition at Flemington in 1962

ABC archive footage shows the inaugural Fashions on the Field competition at Flemington Racecourse in 1962. Launched to encourage more female racegoers to attend Melbourne Cup Race Day, the inaugural competition was won by Miss Margaret Wood. She won a new Ford Falcon Futura valued at £1450 and a Cyclax beauty case valued at £50.
