Milliner Katie Allen from Lifted Vintage has a Costume and Technology major, and therefore has formed most of her milliner skill set with vintage, theatrical period pieces in mind. Whilst she is still very inspired by past eras, her skills, like her designs are taking on a more modern fashion forward approach. As you can see here in the featured image, Katie has used window pane or basketweave sinamay brim contrasted with a delicate silk sateen fabric covered button.  The brim comes around to create a "nest" for her cotton velvet Dahlia, giving it a luxurious finish and an abundance of texture.
