A passion for all things vintage often leads to a career as a milliner. Jillian Garret of Jacksonville, Oregon has researched hats of the 1930-40’s period and all her work reflects this era. She adores faux birds peeking over the brim of a tilt topper. Each hat has a story. This hat is perfect to wear with a 1940s power suit. The wired crown is pinched and tucked to give it that “Mad Hatter” style of flare and edged with traditional grosgrain binding. The fascination of this hat is the draped piece of sheer black chiffon flaring from the back of the hat. Can’t you envisage the 1940’s matriarch of the family announcing her arrival in this hat?
