Traditionally boater hats were worn by men as the summer alternative to a formal bowler hat. They were the favoured hat for boating or sailing in the Victorian era, hence their name.  Boaters were also worn by women with the essential hat pin due to a shallow crown. New York Milliner, Jaya Lee has created this vintage styled boater in a rich burgundy velvet. Note the perfect stitching around the brim edge. Trimmed with a vintage floral ribbon and finished at the back with hand crafted flowers you feel as though you are walking back in time. Jaya is passionate about recreating styles from the 1920s to 1940s.
