Together with Hat academy teacher Elaine Mergard, Evelyne Wheeler of West London celebrates almost 50 years of millinery creativity. Both milliners have seen the highs of the ‘60s, the crash of the mid 70’s then the revival in early 80’s, another slump in early 90’s but now in 2014 we are all on a hat high!!  Whether it is a cheeky beret or a chic chapeau Evelyne’s talents are unlimited.

Making her first hat at high school in mid ‘60s led to her first work placement as a copyist in a millinery workroom. The hours were long and the quota by head milliner were very demanding but Evelyne found her passion and 50yrs on still makes hats for friends & family. This saucer hat has a perfect finish as it has been covered and moulded so carefully. The simple twisted spines brought in a touch of colour to match the outfit worn for last years Royal Ascot.
