The Mingei Museum is presenting an incredible exhibit on Hats & Headdresses from their Permanent Collection. These selections make up donations and purchases from the past 34 years.  There are a wide variety of cultures and countries from around the world in this exhibition.  The hats are used for a variety of reasons, which could be for protection, ornamentation, and some to ward off evil spirits.  Hats & Headdresses can portray status, what ethnic group you belong to, or they can be a fashion statement reflecting the wearer’s personality.
