My inspiration was my mother who was a milliners apprentice in the 1960’s , she always wore a hat and made an effort to dress well, even going to do the groceries.
About Me
I have grown up making all my clothes, from making my cabbage Patch dolls clothes from patterns at the age of 8 years into making my mum outfits in the 80’s for the races. I completed secondary school as a boarder and an economics degree at UNE. In 2003 I completed a short 3 day course in millinery through East Sydney Tech and from there began my making hats. Since then I have done a number of courses and started my own business Penelope Haddrill Hats. I have stocked a number of boutiques and been in many publications including Vogue, Graziher, UK Daily, Royal Randwick press. I have a website www.penelopehaddrillhats.com.au where I now sell majority of my handmade hats from our broad acre farm in western nsw.
