I Love Hats Because?: Since I was a child, I’ve always loved to look at the old movies with the beautiful actresses that were always “well dressed”. But it was the hat and gloves that “completed” their attire. My mother always dressed me with a hat and/or gloves for church, especially for Easter. Mymom had beautiful vintage hats that she would share with me...and then I began to build my own collection as a young lady. I happened to take a Yheatrical Design course in college, not realizing that hat making basics would be included. That was in the late 80’s. After leaving college, I would sometimes make/sew “soft” African style hats or decorate hat bases. I would like to begin again making hats and using hat blocks and learning how to form hats by sewing braids together.
