I initially wanted to become a fashion designer but when I discovered millinery I just knew this was what I wanted to do for a living. Millinery really got my creative juices flowing and I changed direction. I still after over 20 years of designing millinery get a thrill when a private client gets their first glimpse of their bespoke couture headdress. I never want to not feel that excitement!
About Me
I was born in England, raised in Ireland and I returned to London and studied Fashion & Textile Design where I discovered Millinery. I undertook courses in Soft Pattern Hats, Blocking Sinamay, Blocking Straw, Blocking Felt, Covered Shapes and Silk Flower Making with 'old school' milliner Chole Balcham. I studied Fashion (Millinery Path) at Kensington & Chelsea College under Kirsten Scott, had extensive training with the best in the UK millinery industry and I graduated with a Fantasy Bridal collection. I was making for private clients and supplying Bridal and independent boutiques while I was still studying. My work experience was with Pip Hackett, Suzanne Cooper Accessories and a bridal wear designer based close to my home in North London who kindly gave me the dresses on loan for my Final Collection show. I have been designing and making my own brand Millinery - Occasion, Bridal and Theatrical for over 20 years in London and Ireland in the Donegal/Derry region where I am currently based. I was engaged to teach and give Millinery demonstrations to private students and Educational establishments during my time in London and I continue to teach Couture Millinery workshops of small groups and on a 1 to 1 basis ( Covid Regulations permitting)
