This is a large sinamay and silk hat that I made
for a Mother of the Bride. Her outfit was made
in a beautiful dark green and pink tartan silk
with fuchsia pink silk trims. I dyed the sinamay
to match the dark green silk and was able to
use pieces of the dressmaking fabric to trim
and finish the hat. I love the dramatic effect
of the dark green with the striking flashes of
fuchsia. I used fabric in the sinamay shapes
on the trimming and rolled the edges to give
a natural looking finish. The brim edge is
trimmed with the silk. I find that using even a
tiny bit of fabric from an outfit somewhere in
the hat or fascinator brings everything together
perfectly.
