Jinsin is very easy to use, but not cheap, and I don't use stiffener. Always roll over edges and machine to prevent them from fraying. The black stripe in this piece is the white woven fabric removed to create the stripe, a little time consuming but gives a great effect. The one thing to remember with jinsin is to soak in plain water first for a little while and don't force it into too shape of a shape, it will crack. I found soaking it for several minutes to soften then slowly manipulating by hand or over a curved surface prevents it cracking too much. Take a look at the other piece I have done in blue jinsin, it is quite curved but I managed to not crack it by just takng my time. Once you have the shape you pin and then stitch it into shape once dry.
This piece won a customer 2nd runner up at the Gladstone Cup Day Fashions on the Field Finals, she looked stunning in gun metal grey and black accessories.
