Rolling is a fantastic way of finishing the
edges of a fabric that would be thicker, flatter
and altogether less flowing if it was done in
any other way. It allows you to create fluid
pieces that can be folded, twirled and tweaked
into the most fantastic shapes. This piece was
made for a customer who wanted something
different. She didn’t want to wear a hat but, as
Mother of the Bride, felt that she would still
like to make a bit of a statement. The rolled
edges of the sinamay give the piece body
without being too heavy. It finishes the leaf
shapes beautifully and allows the sinamay to
loop in perfect curves.
