This Newsboy style cap hat was handmade from vintage 1940s Stehli silk.
Stehli silks are in several museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The company was originally from Switzerland and came to Lancaster county, PA in the US and opened a silk factory in the early 1900s. They were the largest in the US and second largest in the world. The company closed in 1955. They were always known as forward thinking and produced some of the most Avante Garde fabrics of the time.
This fabric was produced in the late 1940s but because of the brilliant colors and designs looks much like fabrics of the 1960s and 1970s.
The colors of the hat are grey, burgundy, orange, yellow, and white.
The visor is a hard visor but can still be shaped easily with the hands to your preference.
The hat is cotton lined and has a grosgrain sweatband.
Fits head size 23 1/2" or 7 1/2 to 7 5/8 for men or a size ex-large
