One of my favourite colours for 2013, Cobalt Blue! This straw 'beret-look' headpiece is anchored on a satin covered metal headband OR a wire comb/millinery elastic combination. $175 inc hatbox.

I love that colour  and style. I have not used straw and wonder how easy it is to use ?

Love the simplicity of this hat....though it's almost a BOLD simplicity.

SO sorry for the delay in responding Jain & Anne-Marie, I haven't been online this week at all.... Jain I really love working with straw braid.....  Many simply use it as a trim but straw braid can be machine stitched with invisible thread around and around in circles to make the disc base...  And in this instance I have then started a seperate portion of braiding (stitching 4 braids wide)  for the edging continuing into the loops for the figure eight knot... it's actually not that time consuming to do from scratch because the straw braid is quite pliable and responds well under the sewing machine...  And thank you Anne-Marie!  I love making simple structured bold pieces and I'm thrilled you love it :) ....
