Ceres ~ Goddess of Growth

CERES was the Roman goddess of agriculture, grain, and the love a mother bears for her child. She was credited with teaching humans how to grow, preserve, and prepare grain and corn and was thought to be responsible for the fertility of the land. Ceres was a kind and benevolent goddess to the Romans and they had a common expression, "fit for Ceres," which meant splendid. She had the power to fertilize, multiply and fructify plant and animal seed, and her laws and rites protected all activities of the agricultural cycle.

How she was made:

Ceres has been constructed entirely by using only wire and vegan feathers. The wire was manipulated into several diamond like shapes and attached to the handmade headband. The whole wire frame was tightly wrapped with tulle so the vegan feathers could be sewn onto it.

Each feather was made by hand using sinamay straw. After cutting the shapes and fraying the edges, they were manipulated further with heat to represent straw feathers. The feathers were randomly placed to add volume and softness to the wire frame.

Ceres is a unique piece of art that will add life to any outfit ♥
