I hand blocked a rich black velour felt on a vintage hat block. The hat has a wide brim and fedora crown. I sewed all aspects of the hat by hand, rather than using a machine (this means the stitches are not visible). I sewed a wire into the brim, for more stability and to keep its form for many years to come. The trim is a luxurious bow of black and cream felt and black and tan grosgrain ribbon. I also sewed a grosgrain headsize ribbon measuring approximately 23 " into the inside of the crown.
