I was asked to create a headpiece that depicted the Mantle House logo for her owner to wear to a fundraising function. We decided a saucer shape in red sinamay would provide the perfect backdrop to highlight the black frame of the house which was hand shaped and wrapped in black braid. A cluster of singed edged organza flowers on the front and back side of the piece soften the look. The wire frame can be easily removed from the headpiece to enable it to be used as a headpiece for any function. Sitting upon a handmade and lined disc base this headpiece holds securely with an elastic and tulle covered headband.

The owner hopes to auction this piece to raise funds for Mantle House. Mantle Housing (in partnership with Wesley Mission Brisbane) will build safe, supportive homes for people living with severe and enduring mental illness.
