Hi All :)

I was just looking for a bit of help/advise.

I am desperate to have a go at making this vintage style hat - i'm not sure of the name other than an infinity hat.

What would be the best base foe me to use to get the shape?

I was thinking bound wire then covered with buckram but I'm just not sure?

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks ):

This shape is typical of 1950/60's whimsy. In most cases veiling was added over the piece and over the eyes. Cap net or buckram are suitable for base with wired edge to maintain shape & also allow customer to fit whimsy to their head shape. Experimentation is our greatest teacher so give it a go. E xx

Hi Elaine,

Thank you so much for your reply!

I will definitely have an experiment today...in your opinion though what wire thickness would be best.  Sorry if that a very obvious question but I am quite the novice.

Many thanks
