Dear Koumba, I always use pre-stiffened sinamay even for freeform structures even though it is more expensive. The lesssons I have up so far do not include freeform designs but structured millinery that is wired to keep shape. The important thing in what ever you create is that you guarantee it will keep the shape for the client. Stiffening sinamay has challenges. Commercially time is money and it is a waste of time to wait for stiffener to dry. Read recently of a young milliners dilemma with plastic stuck to straw.Each of these hats I have made I make in 6-8hrs as I am very serious about making money from millinery.
