I love wearing hats and now in my retirement I am going to love teaching Millinery to pass on my skills to the next generation.
About Me
I have been happily married for 40+years and have 4 wonderful children. As a Teenager in the 1960s we wore hats everywhere. I made my first hat in 1964 during my training as a Home Economics Teacher. We were trained over 2 years in all fields of millinery so we could teach millinery in Adult Education with the Queensland Govt. I love spending time
caring for my Granddaughters,Scarlett & Lillian and going fishing.
I am a really beginner in Millinery - but I always loved hats - and I am looking for materials: they are very difficult to find in Italy but I am searching on line for English and French sites in order to keep down shipping costs. As soon as I have basic materials, I'll surely follow your classes.
I love your hats, Elaine, and so grateful for your lessons which I'm SO enjoying. Nearly finished my first hat - seem to have chosen all the most difficult fabrics!
Thank you Elaine. Im on the search for a second hand one as we speak. Ill be sure to look at the videos as Im extremely rusty. What lessons do you recommend for someone like me interested mainly in fascinators and head pieces?
Thank you so much for the warm greeting and this gorgeous website! I just replied to your e-mail. I am honored to join this community, looking forward to beautiful connection and exquisite hats :) M
Thankyou for your lovely welcome Elaine! I've studied theatrical millinery and looking forward to learning some new techniques! Thankyou so much for your kindness and help xx
Elaine that is amazing about your great grandfather, the world is such a small place after all :) thank you I am really excited to get started, will be on in the morning, take care, chat to you soon, Áine.
hi Eliane it's a pleasure to work with you and learn the technique for my generation to run buisness.may god bless all of you and keep you prosperous and strongly healthy more than ever!
Hello there Elaine, thanks for the welcome. Looking forward to adding some more upto date techniques to my knowledge......now I just have to make my choice.
hello I just bought some patterns and looking at some new ideas and basic vintage designs inspiring me. thankyou for the welcome. hope to have a lot of fun creating.
Thank you for that wonderful welcome. I am finally returning to this art of millinery. I was taught in 1990 by my fashion design teacher. I love wearing hats and making them. I will continue to refresh my skills and take classess. I have several block forms to start , and i am waiting for supplies from the uk.
Hello Elaine, I am a bit slow on the computer but I just read you lovely welcome...thankyou. I have purchased lessons 15 and 16 (silk Abaca). I was about to purchase lesson 17 and I stopped and actually read the page !!! I probably should have purchased the master class, is there a great deal of difference between the individual class content and the master class content?
Thank you for your time and your wonderful website
Thankyou Elaine. I enjoyed watching the first lesson last night but I'm having trouble getting onto the next lesson. Each time I press settings/lessons all I can see is my profile. I've tried everything without success.
Help.....
Thank you for your warm welcome, Elaine! I've already started watching the videos and practicing. Although I have a little bit of millinery training, having the opportunity to learn these skills systematically and on a schedule that works for me is wonderful. Thank you for making this opportunity possible.
Thank you so much Elaine, for welcoming me among your "pupils"! I'm sure attending the courses will be inspiring! I'm looking forward to receiving the supplies I ordered and I'll soon be ready to start, can't wait!
Do you have any lessons of theatrical millinery? I am searching for this type of course to inprove my profile. If you dont have anything like this can you recomend me were or who gives these type of course?
I am teaching at Millinery at Melbourne Fashion Institute and I have recommended your courses for them to enhance their learning as it is impossible to cover everything. One of them has just bought the Ian Bennett feather classes.
Thank you Elaine
Foyour warm welcome I will now have to save so I will be able to start learning
Do you ever have workshops other than the on line lessons
Cheers

Thank you so much for welcoming me to The Hat Academy, Elaine. I am passionate about Felt, creating Hats in particular, in fact I can't stop making them. I'm so looking forward to investigating the site. Many Thanks. Anita
Thank you for your compliments. I feel I've found my new medium in wool. I've made many vessels and a beret over the last few years but not a hat like this one. I haven't been this excited about creating since I started quilting over 27 years ago. Your video was clear and easy to follow and I look forward to making more and trying the cloche hat. I'd love to know where I can find other template ideas to make other types of hats. And will you have any other workshops available in the future?
Crystal
Thankyou so much for the lovely message Elaine! Looking forward to it all!!
