I love wearing hats and now in my retirement I am going to love teaching Millinery to pass on my skills to the next generation.
About Me
I have been happily married for 40+years and have 4 wonderful children. As a Teenager in the 1960s we wore hats everywhere. I made my first hat in 1964 during my training as a Home Economics Teacher. We were trained over 2 years in all fields of millinery so we could teach millinery in Adult Education with the Queensland Govt. I love spending time
caring for my Granddaughters,Scarlett & Lillian and going fishing.
Hi Elaine,
I am kicking myself for not getting organised enough to have been able to meet you whilst you were here in Cairns recently. Next time definitely. I am excited to be finally making a real hat. My last one was plaited raffia in the 80's!
Thank you for such a wonderful opportunity!
Rgds, Taeyla

Oh, thank you Elaine! I'm so thrilled to have found a site based in Australia. I'm having a ball using an old block of my great-grandmothers, but am hoping to add some new bits and pieces to my collection to make more wonderful pieces.
Thank you for your warm welcome.
Dear Elaine, Thank you very much for you beautiful comment. I am so glad that an experienced milliner like you, who must have seen all the hats ever existed, liked my work. I will post some more photos of the hat soon in the future.

Thank you again, and I look forward to all that I will learn.
Thanks Elaine for your lovely welcome. I am looking forward to starting some lessons and would be interested to hear where I can get the hat blocks or other resources in Adelaide. I am currently doing a 6 month stint managing a resort in Western Australia, which is why i want to do lessons as i have time on my hands. I am returning to adelaide in two weeks so if I can purchase anything you recommend while I'm there it would be much appreciated any advice your an give me.
Hi Elaine, I feel very welcomed into your millinery world - so thank you very much. I stumbled upon millinery in November last year. I feel now (at the ripe old age of 43) I have finally found what I want to do with my life, my calling. Soooooo excited. Here's to new beginnings.
Thanks so much, Elaine! I can't wait to start I really want to try the French flower making lesson. It seems very exciting so I am looking forward to it!
How do you find the lessons you have purchased? I purchased a few but I can't remember which ones? Silly - I know. But I cant see it on my page - maybe I missed it?
Hi Elaine,
I just purchased the beginners and intermediate bundles and I just realised that stiffeners can't be shipped to Nigeria. Please is there an alternative for such as I haven't seen that stiffener here before.
Thank you for the warm welcome Elaine, I am very glad to find this website, I see members here are very helpful to helping each other too! I look forward to purchase the beginner courses in a near future.
It was wonderful to meet you and Graham today. I'm so excited about this new path and can't wait to learn all you have to teach. Thank you for taking the time today and inspiring me - I look forward to catching up soon.
Hi Elaine
I started making hats a few years back, but I would like to get better using the proper techniques. I have a number of hats and they have improved with each one but I do want to get better so that I can start a business in millenary. I tried to sign up for some of your courses but I was having a bit of trouble with the site. I will try again.
Thanks so much for sharing your skills with us.
