Hi Rachel, in millinery there always several ways of doing things, the way I would do it would be in two pieces of a tip and sideband cut on the cross, using French seams for neatness. After putting it on the block, steaming the sideband, hold the waist in place with a wide strip of mull till it is dry. When it is thoroughly dry, apply stiffener and again hold the sideband in place until it is dry. Hope this of use and Happy Hatting!<br />
