I purchased a melusine top hat from a hat maker in London. When I received it I had to take it to a hat manufacturer in Colorado to have it reshaped to fit me. I have a very long head. It fit great and I put it in a hat box to protect it, three days later I took it out and it had gotten very fuzzy. A hat maker showed me how to brush it but no body knows what wax to use or how to use it, which is what the manufacturer in London said it needed. Can you tell me how to do this?

Hello to all Millinery enthusiasts

I do not have a smaller mad hatter block version and I have been trying with buckram but cannot curve the sides as wanted. So I started the rather insane frame from scratch in wire.

I have my nice defined sides curved, the proportions sound right. It fits my head. I can play with slight asymmetry because it is flexible but it is still not sturdy and I have gaps. It is about 6.5 high. I need to cover the gaps and make it stronger. What can I…

Hello, I'm asking on behalf of a dear friend who cleans moss off roof shingles in Seattle for a living. The summer is over now so it's nice for him but to prepare for next year we're wondering what the best hat that is both lightweight, durable and able to block the sun would be. And who better to ask than a milliner!

Hello Milliners,

I need some help please.

I am working on a brim at the moment and incasing a wire into the brim edge. The straight stitch on my sewing machine is very inconsistent. Could this be a tension issue?

I've folded the brim edge over the wire, so technically sewing through 6 layers of sinamay. Note too sure if there is a recommended stitch length and tension for such a thick layer of material?

Thank you in advance!

Hello! I am interested in jijin hats, a kind of liturgical hat that was used in China. I'm trying to figure out what material would be used to give this hat its shape/its stiffness? I'd like to be able to recreate one, but I'm not sure what kind of leather/buckram/material would be needed, and if it would have to be glued to the inside of the fabric? I have a background in sewing, but not in millinery, so any information or advice you can give is appreciated! :)…

Hi everyone,

I noticed that in a lot of the videos and live lessons, the teachers have handy little ironing pads/mats on their table tops. Does anyone know where these can be purchased in Australia?

Thanks so much,
