Heya everyone,

I've recently purchased a hat stretch which is heated and I was wondering if anyone could give me some advise and tips?

I have purchased my blocks at a 22.25 in size and a client wants some felt hats that are 22.25 stretched to 23.25in, 23in, and 23.5in. Is it possible to stretch a hat to that size without misshaping it? And could someone give me some idea of how long I would keep the hat on the stretcher for?

Hope you all are enjoying the festive season!

Thanks!

Hello!

I haven't had any problems stretching on my electric stretcher, as long as the trim and grosgrain aren't attached.  I will gradually increase the size and let it sit on the heat for awhile before increasing the size more, rather than cranking it up to the desired size right away.  I've also found that it's good to stretch it a hair bigger than desired to allow room for the grosgrain. I've also tried a light spray of water on the inside and then letting it stretch on the electric stretcher which worked really well.  Hope that helps - although, probably by now you've already figured it out!  :-)
