Taupe Woven Straw Cloche Hat

This cloche is hand blocked from a very high quality vintage taupe woven straw hood. It is a beautiful woven design and the straw is bright and shiny.

Please zoom in to see the incredible detail of the work.

The hat was blocked so it has a classic cloche profile.

It is trimmed with a beautiful brocade ribbon around the brim and a matching brocade cockade trimmed with golden vintage crin (horsehair) edging.

The hat is unlined but has a grosgrain band.

The hat will comfortably fit head sizes 21 1/2" to 22 1/2" with smaller head sizes wearing the hat lower on the head.

Thank you Elaine and Janet!  I love working with vintage.  I apprenticed with Jerry and Macio Peek from Paris Fashions and Hat Blocking from Chicago, IL. USA and they started their business in 1929.  They bought close-outs from other hat makers whenever they could from the very beginning and also bought from everywhere in the world.  They were in their Nineties when they decided to give up the business.  Since my husband and I were not only very close friends but business associates, we were the recipients of all their goodies.

I love this vintage style Sharon.  Elaine I'm coming to Brisbane in May and wondered where the original outlet is?

Another amazing vintage style Sharon. Sourcing vintage components is not easy although here in Brisbane we are fortunate as the original outlet for supplies in the 50/60s sells some of remaining vintage straws, flowers + It is always fascinating to go there and discover what new 'old' stuff has surfaced. All the flowers are tagged 'made in Japan' as nothing came from China in those days.
