Starting your first collection?
How many pieces did you start off with in your first collection, and how many do you make in subsequent collections?
Im writing my business plan, will be couple years yet before im at a place where im able launch my millinery label but in the meantime i have decided to work on a small collection of bridal hair accessories, fascinators and mini hats (blocked straw button/smartie hats) ready to launch in feb/march - the next UK wedding season (im too late for this year)
i was thinking 6 pieces in each category to start with so around 18-24 pieces, then adding 12 or so every 6 months as i learn new technique
just wondered how you all started off ?

I am just starting out too and have a similar plan to you. I have a collection of 6 brimmed hats, about 10 fascinators, two winter trilby felt hats and around 15 bridal headpieces.
I am planning on adding to this collection as and when I have the time and funds! I am holding down a full time teaching job and a family while I try to establish myself and dare I say it...my brand?!

Rose and Kate, I am also hoping to launch my first collection soon. I recently moved countries and are starting up again in my new home and would also like to hear what others have to say. I am currently working on a new name for my business as I am not happy with the old one, also working on revamping my website and starting to build my clients here in NZ. I am excited to make a new start and establish a brand. Good luck to both of you!
